Leg pain, cold feet or a sore that won't heal?
Those can be signs that blood is not reaching your legs and feet the way it should. Peripheral artery disease (PAD) is a common cause, and it often goes unchecked because people blame age or arthritis.
First Coast Cardiovascular Institute (FCCI) has cared for Northeast Florida since 2002. Its board-certified cardiologists test and treat artery and vein problems in the legs, from the first ultrasound to minimally invasive procedures in an outpatient cath lab.

Testing that gets answers
FCCI's accredited Non-Invasive Vascular Lab is the only one in Jacksonville solely dedicated to vascular testing. It checks leg arteries for PAD, neck arteries for stroke risk, veins for clots, the aorta for aneurysms and dialysis fistulas and grafts. The tests use ultrasound, so there are no needles and no dye.

Treatment without a hospital stay
In 2007 FCCI opened Jacksonville's first freestanding outpatient cardiac and peripheral vascular cath lab, followed by a second in Palatka in 2016. Both are accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care. Doctors there open blocked leg arteries with balloons, stents, atherectomy devices and lithotripsy, usually through a tiny incision in the wrist or groin.

Amputation is not your only option.
FCCI's Amputation Prevention Center pairs vascular cardiologists with wound care specialists under one roof. If you have been told you may lose a toe, foot or leg, call 904.493.3333 to ask about an evaluation.

Dialysis access, handled fast
FCCI has a 10-year tradition of caring for people with chronic kidney disease and has performed thousands of hemodialysis access procedures in its outpatient labs, working hand in hand with your nephrologist and dialysis center.
